The Republic of Volunteers: Civic Stewardship in Action
The Association des Amis des Orgues de Saverdun (RNA W092005820) functions through the collective devotion of local citizens. Volunteerism within our association is an egalitarian, welcoming endeavor open to everyone—students, workers, craftspeople, jobseekers, and retirees alike. No musical expertise or religious affiliation is required; your enthusiasm and practical goodwill are what matter.
All volunteer services are delivered in a strictly non-profit, benevolent capacity. Volunteers are fully covered by the association's comprehensive civil liability and personal accident insurance policy (Contrat d'Assurance Responsabilité Civile Associative) during all official missions.
Ethical Standard: "All membership fees and dues are fully reinvested in the association's public interest missions."
Five Active Volunteer Commissions: Find Your Calling
Our volunteer corps is organized into five operational commissions, allowing you to contribute in the area that best matches your interests and skills:
Concert Hosting & Public Reception
Welcome audience members at the church portal, distribute complimentary program booklets, guide mobility-impaired attendees to reserved seating, and answer visitor questions. Ideal for friendly communicators who enjoy meeting neighbors and travelers.
Commitment: 3–4 hours on concert Sundays (4–8 times per year).
Technical Setup & Video Transmission
Assist with erecting nave projection monitors, routing HDMI/audio cables from the organ tribune, operating camera switchers, and testing sound reinforcement microphones. Great for hobbyists interested in audiovisuals and stage mechanics.
Commitment: 2 hours setup before concerts and 1 hour teardown.
Educational Workshops & Youth Guides
Assist teachers and our titulaire organist during school visits. Guide children through pipe demonstrations, manage hands-on experimental trunks, and distribute educational comic booklets. Perfect for former educators, parents, or youth mentors.
Commitment: Weekday mornings during scheduled school terms (flexible).
Instrument Conservation & Climate Logging
Conduct weekly hygrometric and temperature logging in the organ loft, inspect woodwork for dust or drafts, and support accredited master organ builders during seasonal tuning campaigns. Suited for practical, detail-oriented craftspeople.
Commitment: 1 hour per week (rotating roster).
Civic Communications & Archival Research
Distribute posters and flyers to town halls, bakeries, and community boards throughout the Canton de Saverdun; write non-profit event notices; scan and transcribe historical church music scores; and catalogue municipal archives.
Commitment: Flexible hours according to personal availability; work can be done from home.

- Passeport Bénévole (France Bénévolat) : We certify all accumulated service hours, validating civic experience for students, jobseekers, or professional accreditation (VAE).
- Equal Voice in Governance : Volunteers can attend General Assemblies, vote on association resolutions, and propose new artistic or educational projects.
